Begin with an official edition reference

Yen Press identifies Overlord, Vol. 1 as a light novel. The publisher page below is a first-volume reference for the English prose version. The word Overlord on a search result is not enough to establish the format, so confirm the light-novel label and volume number before selecting a retailer.

A starting point without an adaptation guess

Our recommendation for an unreviewed adaptation is to start at volume one. This lets you read the prose from its beginning. It is not a claim that the anime's first season adapts only one volume, and it is not a continuation recommendation for every season. Sourcebook keeps those two questions separate.

For readers coming from a later season

Name the season and final episode you watched. A useful continuation guide needs to check where that adaptation stops and whether returning to earlier prose would supply missing context. We have not published that checked mapping for Overlord yet. Do not use a retailer's volume number as evidence of an episode-to-volume relationship.

Choose language, format and market

Use the publisher page to confirm the English edition and match the format to the retailer. Check the ISBN when one is provided, then confirm shipping or digital access for your country. Sourcebook's checked links remain a small sample, so its absence of an Overlord purchase offer should be read as an editorial coverage gap.
