About this series

How I Became King by Eating Monsters is a Japanese light novel series written by Daken and illustrated by Shiba. It was originally serialized as a web novel on the online publication platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō from January 2022 to January 2023. Micro Magazine later began publishing it as a light novel under its GCN Bunko imprint in September 2023, with six volumes released as of January 2026. A manga adaptation illustrated by Karin Suzuragi began serialization in Hakusensha's Young Animal Zero magazine in January 2024, and has been compiled into two volumes as of November 2025.
